ONGOING PROJECTS

Community-conserved coral reefs in Lakshadweep Archipelago

SCF aims to work with the local community and government to develop a co-managed network of conservation reserves that aim to not only save and restore the corals but also assist reef-associated sustainable livelihoods.

Molecular database for corals in Lakshadweep Archipelago

The project aims to develop coral molecular signatures that will aid future coral reef restoration policies.

Prevalence of pesticides in agrarian landscape and documentation of agrobiodiversity in Desert National Park, Rajasthan

GIZ-India collaborated with SCF with support from Rajasthan Forest Department to Assess prevalence of pesticide use in agrarian landscape of Desert National Park

Ecological Impacts of Nisarg cyclone along the coast of Maharashtra

The project aims to conduct comparative ecological assessment to understand the damage caused by Nisarg and Tauktae in and around mangrove and non-mangrove ecosystem areas and assess the significant role played by the mangrove ecosystem.

A corporate-community model of biodiversity conservation through rejuvenation of the ecosystem

Birla Corporation Limited collaborated with SCF to establish People’s Biodiversity Registers in two villages and document traditional and environment friendly natural resource use practices and to undertake community awareness programmes

ONGOING PROJECTS

  • Connecting Youths and Children to Nature

    Tata Motors Ltd collaborated with SCF to implement the program in schools and colleges through 40 training sessions at various locations in Maharashtra through 15 well-curated slide shows on various themes related to biodiversity and climate change. We aim to reach 4000 students through direct participation in the online/onsite lecture series

OUTREACH & COMMUNICATION

SCF has completed development of two field guides in Marathi to be used for local capacity building related to the rich coastal and marine biodiversity of the state of Maharashtra
