Vishal is currently Assistant Director (Marine Conservation) at Srushti Conservation Foundation
Vishal has worked on various conservation and research projects of diverse nature since 2009.
- Habitat/ species inventories and Rapid biodiversity studied
- Habitat Restoration – Mangroves, Corals
- Marine Invertebrate Taxonomy – specialization in Mollusca
- GIS and remote sensing
He is interested in using technology to aid conservation and Decision making.
Awards
- He is a recipient of Sanctuary-RBS’s ‘Young Naturalist’ Award in 2009
- Received Species and Habitat Warriors Award – 2023 under “Young Researcher” category from Tarun Bharat, Mumbai and MahaMTB – In June 2023
He has published 20 scientific papers in the field of Taxonomy coastal and marine biodiversity in the prestigious journals like Current Science, Marine Biodiversity Records, Invertebrate Systematics, Journal of Threatened Taxa, Zoological Journal Of The Linnean Society, Journal Of The Bombay Natural History Society, ZooKeys, Journal Of Natural History, JMBA India and The Nautilus. He has also authored 8 technical reports especially on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Maharashtra.
