Girish Jathar PhD
Deputy Director (Research)
Girish is Deputy Director Research at Srushti Conservation Foundation. He is a passionate conservationist with 20 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, environmental sustainability and systems thinking. He deems in team learning, shared vision, equality, symbiotic growth, cultural diversity and human well-being through systemic
approach.
He is in the field of wildlife conservation and climate change education since last two decades. He worked with Bombay natural History Society for 13 years in various capacities. He has implemented 23 major projects in capacity of scientist, co-investigator and principal investigator. He carried out more than 30 training programmes. He has worked in almost all landscapes of India encompassing, Himalayas, Western Ghats, Central Indian forests and semi-arid grasslands. He also developed Climate Change Education Coach for prestigious Science Express. He was visiting faculty at Gujarat University for Management Education Centre on Climate Change. He has also travelled to about 6 countries for scientific and academic work as well as presenting and participating in the international seminars and conferences. His work on Forest Owlet led to declaration of Toranmal Reserve Forest as Community Reserve. In addition to this his work with communities in Western Ghats, Central India and Himalayas lead to completion of 30 People’s Biodiversity Registers.
