 Job Summary:

Srushti Conservation Foundation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the project on Central Asian Flyway Inland – Wetland Ecosystems across four sites in four states of India. The Project Manager will oversee field investigations, project management, financial management of project, analyse biodiversity data, and provide guidance on species diversity, migration patterns, and socio-economic assessments of wetland ecosystems. The role also includes developing training modules for wetland managers, drafting policy briefs, and formulating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for wetland conservation. This is a senior-level role ideal for individuals with a Ph.D. and significant experience in ecology, wildlife, or environmental science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead field investigations of selected inland wetlands to document biodiversity values, including species diversity, ecological interactions, and ecosystem health.
  • Analyse complex data related to species diversity, migration patterns, and the ecological role of wetlands in larger landscapes.
  • Conduct and supervise socio-economic assessments to evaluate community dependence on wetland ecosystems and the impacts of wetland management on local livelihoods.
  • Design and lead the development of training modules and capacity-building programs for wetland managers, focusing on wetland biodiversity, conservation strategies, and long-term ecological planning.
  • Draft high-level policy briefs and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on wetland conservation and biodiversity protection, tailored for corporate stakeholders and environmental policymakers.
  • Provide leadership in stakeholder engagement, including corporate partners, local communities, and government bodies, to foster collaboration and support for wetland conservation initiatives.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to scientific discourse on wetland conservation and biodiversity
  • Mentor Project Scientists and contribute to the overall research strategy for wetland conservation projects.
  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and manage the overall progress of the project, ensuring timely completion of research milestones. Coordinate with other partners, local communities, and stakeholders to align project objectives with conservation goals.
  • Financial Management: Work closely with finance team, oversee the financial aspects of the project, including budget development, expenditure tracking, and reporting. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and guidelines, managing project funds responsibly and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • D. or M.Sc. in Ecology, Wildlife Sciences, Environmental Science, Wetland Ecology, or a related discipline or a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in research, conservation, or ecological management, with a focus on biodiversity and wetland ecosystems.
  • Skills and Expertise: Proven track record of leading field-based biodiversity assessments, ecological research, and data analysis.
  • Strong background in socio-economic assessments, with an ability to integrate ecological and human dimensions in conservation planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver capacity-building programs, workshops, or training sessions.
  • Experience in drafting policy briefs, SOPs, or conservation guidelines for government or corporate entities.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, with a focus on biodiversity or wetland conservation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., R, GIS, ecological modelling software) and excellent report-writing skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including corporate partners, local communities, government agencies, and academic audiences.
  • Passionate about biodiversity conservation, particularly in inland wetland ecosystems, and committed to making a lasting environmental impact.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver results within deadlines.
