The first scientific report by Srushti Conservation Foundation (SCF) on the ‘Impact of Cyclone Nisarga on mangrove and non-mangrove areas’ was released on July 26, 2022, by Shri Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister, and Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The Mangrove Foundation of Maharashtra has sponsored the study to understand the impact of the recent cyclones.
The Government will ensure support for the work of the Mangrove Foundation, especially in the areas of livelihood and shore protection.
The critical findings in the report stressed the vital role of mangroves in coastal area protection, especially during cyclones and sea level rise. He also assured that government would wholeheartedly support mangrove conservation and protection
